A quick update…
After checking in on Thursday, it was a whirlwind of tests and visits from the surgeon and numerous other medical staff.
Friday dawned bright and early when I was woken by 6 am to have a shower, Wayne arrived at 6:30 am we were in pre-op by 7:30 am. I was wheeled into theatre at 8 am and that was the last I remember of Friday.
The weekend was rough, but sleep is a great healer and also the news that THEY GOT THE BUGGAR. The joy of Wayne telling me on waking that the operation, although very very long, was a great success. That the surgeon managed to scrape away all of the tumour and also to save a small part of the pancreas. That in itself was such good news as if the small bit of the pancreas left behind works, it will mean I am not diabetic.
The last couple of days have seen a couple of bumps on the recovery road. After being taken for a chest x-ray on Monday night, I was told yesterday that the lower half of my lung had collapsed. So lots of deep breathing exercises are required hourly, to build it up again. Today after a great start to the day, I had a weird turn. More tests were done, and I’m told I have very low hemoglobin so I am having blood transfusions tonight.
I am so hoping this won’t interfere with my recovery or my ability to go home on Friday.
